一季度德国无烟煤消费下降9％

German hard coal consumption in the first three months of the year in fell 9.3% year on year to 14.6m tonnes of hard coal equivalent (mtce), energy statistics working group AGEB said. The use of hard coal in the power sector dropped 14.4% to 10.1mtce between January and March 2011 compared with the same period the previous year, while the steel industry consumed 4.7% less hard coal at 4.1mtce, AGEB said without providing a specific reason for the fall. Hard coal imports also dropped from 12.2mtce in Q1 2010 to 11.6mtce this year. At the same time, lignite use rose 1.4% year on year to 13.7mtce, with lignite producers increasing power plant supply year on year in January and March, as well as April, AGEB reported based on data from lignite association Debriv. Overall, energy consumption fell by 2.9% to 127.4mtce for the first quarter and decoupled from the upswing in the German economy, which grew 5% year on year, with energy demand "massively influenced" by a short winter and an early onset of mild weather, it added. Nuclear, renewable generation rise. Gas consumption dropped by 10% to 37.2mtce, while nuclear energy’s share in German primary energy demand rose 2.9% to 14.2mtce for the first quarter, which was mostly unaffected by the nuclear lifetime extension moratorium, which cut around 5,000 MW of nuclear generation from 17 March. However, figures for April showed a marked reduction in nuclear power generation to 8.1 TWh from 11.4 TWh in March, AGEB data showed. The biggest rise in consumption was seen by renewable energies, which rose 7% to 12mtce, according to the group. Solar generation in particular rose 92.9% year on year to 2.7 TWh, while wind output rose 5.7% to 11.6 TWh, the figures showed.
